When I began teaching in 1970, little emphasis was placed on how students learn. After working with and observing students, I became fascinated by this topic. Over the years I have read many books and articles about how humans learn, many based on the latest brain research. After synthesizing all that I'd read and learned, I found ways to apply this knowledge to the classroom. My focus became putting theory into practice. The lessons contained on this site wed my own understandings of how the brain learns with state-required content.

I offer to other educators use of lessons I have created. I hope you and your students enjoy using them as much as I have enjoyed creating them.  Please remember that the lessons are for classroom use only. They may not be used in any way that will result in monetary gain. While teachers are free to share them with colleagues, permission must be granted before they can be published.

Links to the lessons follow. They can be downloaded and printed or saved to a file.   Please note that each lesson is a PDF file which will require a PDF reader (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader). Many Internet sites allow users to download this software for free.
