How to Make Postcard-Sized Copies of the Posters:

Global Map

Many teachers and parents have requested directions for making the posters smaller so that students can use them for review. Directions for making postcard-sized copies follow:

Materials Needed:
·    Adobe Acrobat Software
·    White Cardstock (Four poster pages  will print on each page and can be cut apart.)
·    Color Printer

Directions:
  1. Open posters page in Netscape.
  2. Open each poster link and save to your hard drive. You can either press the disk icon or go to the “File” menu and choose “Save As.”  Because there are over one hundred posters, you may want to select only a few posters to begin with. Most of the posters are one page, but a few have multiple pages.
  3. After you have saved all the posters, open Adobe Acrobat software.
  4. Open the first poster in Adobe Acrobat.
  5. Go to the “Document” menu and choose “Insert Pages.”
  6. Select another poster that you saved in Step 2. In the window that pops up, select “After” in the “Location” drop-down menu and click on “Last” under “Page.”
  7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until you have added all of the files you saved in Step 2.
  8. Go to “File” and select “Print.” Select the “Name of the Printer” as “Acrobat Distiller.”
  9. Press the “Properties” button, which is located along side the printer name.
  10. Select the “Layout” tab. In “Pages per Sheet,” select 4 from the drop-down menu.
  11. Click on “OK.”
  12. Click “OK” again.
  13. When prompted, name the file and save it to your hard drive.
  14. You can open and print the file you saved in Step 13 as you would any regular PDF file. You can print as many copies of this new file as you need, perhaps one for each student in your class.
