Friends and Colleagues,

At long last the poster set for Virginia studies is complete. I created at least one poster for every piece of information contained in the "Essential Knowledge" column of the Virginia Social Studies Curriculum Framework. There are over one hundred posters available for your use. After I completed the posters, I spent much time figuring out how to organize the posters into groups. No matter what system I used, I wasn't happy with the result because many posters could fit into more than one category. Finally, I decided to make arbitrary decisions. Thus, each poster has been assigned to one of the following categories:

• Eastern Woodlands Indians
• Virginia as a British Colony
• Virginia Gains Independence
• The New Nation
• The Civil War Era
• Reconstruction
• 20th Century Virginia
• Government
• Geography
• Economics
